Adobe had released its new PDF reader, Adobe Reader 9. With Adobe Reader 9, users can play Flash, shockwave, and other rich media contents directly from Adobe Reader without the need to open another applications.

Adobe Reader 9 also loads faster than its previous version. The main attraction of Adobe Reader 9 is users can view the flash content from the reader, without the need to open another applications. I am sure a lot of rich media PDF documents will come out due to this feature.
I hope Adobe Reader 9’s load speed will not affected by these rich media content, else users will go to other alternatives such as Foxit Reader or Sumatra PDF, which load faster than Adobe Reader.

As we know, some of the PDF documents contains restrictions such as not allow users to print, copy and paste. You can use PDF Unlocker to remove these restrictions easily.
Some PDF creator will add restrictions to the PDF documents to protect the contents from being copied or printed by users. Users still can print, copy and paste the PDF documents, if they have the passwords to unlock the documents.
However, with PDF Unlocker, you can easily remove these restrictions. After installing the application, a shortcut will appear on the dekstop. Simply drag and drop any PDF documents to PDF Unlocker’s icon and all restrictions will be removed.
If the PDF documents required password to open/read, you can use PDF Unlocker to remove the password. But, you need to know the password before unlock them.

Foxit Reader is definitely best Adobe reader replacement. However, we are not able to enable the thumbnail preview in Windows Explorer if we set it as a default PDF viewer. This tip will help you to turn this feature on.
A lot of Foxit reader users request this feature, but unfortunately they haven’t implement it, even in the latest 2.3 version. I try to search through internet and i found a great article which can do this.
Steps
- Install both Foxit reader and Adobe reader.
- Go to Start -> Run -> type regedit.
- In the Registry Editor, go to Edit -> Find. Type “foxit” in the field. Press Find Next a few times until you reach something like “FOXITR~1>EXE“.
- Browse to shell -> open -> command, copy the full path of your foxit reader.exe. For example, mine one is
“C:\PROGRA~1\FOXITS~1\FOXITR~1\FOXITR~1.EXE” “%1″ <–A
- Find your full address for Adobe reader. Mine one is
“C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe” “%1″ <–B
This value should be same with mine, unless you are using different version or install at different path.
- Search through all registry, replace path B with path A. Remember, only replace value that exactly the same with path B, else your Foxit reader/Acrobat reader may not work!
After your finish these steps, you can view the PDF thumbnails in windows explorer while still set Foxit reader as your default PDF viewer.

Adobe had launched its free web-based photoshop – Photoshop Express, which is free and let users to edit photo online.
Adobe had use “Express” for the free version of Photoshop, which i felt a bit similar with Microsoft’s free version of Visual Studio which called Visual Studio Express Edition. Basically, Photoshop Express is not only a web-based photo editor, it is also a place for users to store and share photo.
Although we can’t expect Photoshop Express to has same function with Photoshop CS3, but at least Photoshop Express provide the basic tools for users to edit photo and share it with friends. After you create your account, you will be given a subdomain http://username.photoshop.com, and also 2GB of storage.

Another interesting feature is that Photoshop Express allow users to directly load image from Facebook, Photobucket, and Picasa for edit. After finish edit the image, users can choose to email it to friends or get the direct link to the edited image.
Although there are a lot of similar service which start earlier than Adobe, but i believe Adobe manage to fight them as Adobe is a well-known company which focus on Image processing.

PdfMeNot let users convert any PDF document into flash format, which is much more easy to embedded into website/blog.
There are some service which can convert and share documents online, such as Scribd and SlideShare. PdfMeNot is similar with them, which can convert PDF documents and provide an embedded link so that bloggers can place a PDF viewer within their blogs.

The main advantage of flash format over the PDF format is the loading speed. Once you open the link, the content will appear almost immediately. This is the main reason why flash format had become more popular nowadays.
PdfMeNot team also create a lot of tools which help users to easily integrate their service to the browsers and websites. For example, they had cerate Bookmarklet button which will automatically convert PDF contents to flash contents, Firefox extension, Embedded PDF viewer for websites, and much more.

The PDF format become more and more popular. We read and send a lot of PDF documents daily. So, we need some applications that can add security protection to them so that we can protect them from unauthorized edit. We add watermark and encrypt them using security options. One of the application which can perform these actions is Adobe Acrobat professional. But, it cost arround USD$500, which is very expansive for personal use.

Adobe launch SHARE Beta, a flash-based file sharing application in September 2007. They still in beta testing but the interface is quite nie and easy to use.
There are more and more file hosting service around us. You can read about Top free file hosting server from my blog to look at a few examples. Now, Adobe launch its own file sharing server called SHARE, which has a nice interface. After you register, they will provide you 1GB storage, but they won’t limit your single file size.

The embedded previewer now allows embedding of image files (including jpeg, gif, png) and more interesting also allows embedding Flash Movies (.SWF) on websites, wikis or blogs. After you upload the file, you can set the access level to either Open access or Limited access. If you set to Limited access, only your recipient can access the file. But, they need to own an Adobe account in order to access them. Read More…
