LockImage is a light application which provide password protect for your image. After finish encrypt your image, LockImage will create an executable file, which required the password to open and view.

LockImage

Sometimes, we want to send confidential images to someone else, but we scared someone (hackers) will get these images before they reach the destination. So, we need to password protect these images.

There are few ways to password protect your images/files. For example, we can use Winzip/Winrar to zip them and choose a password to encrypt. But, there are few steps we need to go through in order to encrypt files using Winzip/Winrar. So, is there any easier way for us to password protect our image? Yes, by using LockImage, you can easily protect your image with password. It will create an executable file which contains the image.

How it works?

The interface is quite simple. When you launch the application, choose File -> Open to choose an image and then choose File -> Save As to save the image as a protected executable file. You need to provide the password in order to protect your image.

The application is around 32KB. So, extra 32KB will be added to your image file. Let say the original image is 100KB, the new file size will become 132KB.

When your friends receive the executable file and they open it, a dialog box will prompt up and they need to type the password in order to view the image. The screenshot above show the LockImage application and the dialog box.

Conclusion

This application is quite good, but it not allow us to include multiple files. Besides this, you can only password protect image file. I hope that the later version can support multiple files and also support different file types.

Note: If you are .NET developer, you can actually download the source code and add any extra features.
