Manage your bookmarks across different browsers through Transmute

Some of us installed and use more than one browser on our system. For example, i am using Opera, Firefox, IE, and Google Chrome. So, managing my bookmarks across different browsers bring a lot of trouble to me. Luckily, there is an free application called Transmute, which can copy your bookmarks from one browser and then export it to another browser.

Simply choose the source and target browser and click the Export button. Currently, Transmute support Google Chrome, Firefox, IE, Opera and Safari. the advance settings allow you to create a backup for your bookmarks and append timestamp at your export file.

This application require .NET Framework to run. Before performing any conversion, remember to close all browsers, else you will get error messages. It is because your browsers will lock the bookmarks database and prevent any write action on it.

WinRoll – Make a window roll into its title bar

Sometimes, when you open a lot of windows, you may find that it is veru difficult to maintain them. With WinRoll, you can minimize some of the windows into their title bar. This make users easier to focus on current window, while still can see the other unused window floating at the desktop.

There are some other usages on WinRoll:

  • Middle click the minimize button will minimize the window to tray icon.
  • Shift + left click the title bar send the window to the back.
  • Middle click the close button will toggle the “on top” of the window.
  • Middle click the title bar will turn on/off the “transparency”.

This application is written in assembly language, so the performance is very good, with size below 100KB.

Pictomio – Utilize the power of GPU for photo collection

Pictomio is a photo collection application, which will use the power of GPU to present your photo in 3D format.

If you have a powerful GPU, you can try Pictomio. It is a simple photo collection and viewing application which utilize the power of GPU.

Pictomio comes will a lot of features. For example, you can rate your image, image/video management, liquid-zoom, albums, categories, and much more. Pictomio also supports different language.

In order to use Pictomio, your graphic card must support ShaderModel 2.0 and at least 128MB ram. It is a free application, but unfortunately they only available for Windows machine. Perhaps Linus version will be available soon.

How to create a list of all files and folders under a path

Sometimes, you may want to create a list of files/folders under a certain path, but you need some DOS skills in order to do so. If you don’t want to type those commands, you can try a free tool JR Directory Printer, which will help you to create a text files that contains list of files and folders under a path.

There are a lot of options for you to choose from. Screenshots below show the General and Display settings:

As you can see, the General page allow you to choose your folder path, recurse sub-directories or not, lowercase and dos style filename. If you choose recurse sub-directories, you will get a very long list. The Display tab will let you choose to display the properties of the file, such as size, date time, and attributes.

This application is very useful especially when you want to create a list for your mp3 or movies. You can create a list for your files/folders before burn them into CD/DVD so that you can easily know the contents of the files at future, without browsing them.
