Bookmarks are very important for everyone. We use it to store important URL and a lot of interesting websites. Without bookmark, i can’t imagine how we are going to remember the URLs.
So, what happen if our Firefox’s bookmarks suddenly disappear? One of my friend’s bookmarks suddenly disappear (i am not sure the actual reason, but i suspect is cause by improper PC shut down). So, how are we going to restore the bookmarks?
Firefox actually do the job for us. So, where are the backup bookmarks and how we restore them? Follow the steps below and you can easily retrieve them:
- Go to “C:\Documents and Settings\(your account)\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\”. Replace the bracket with your account name.
- You will see a folder with random name. Go inside the folder and you will see another folder “bookmarkbackups“. Here is the place Firefox store your previous bookmarks.
- Pick the latest bookmarks, copy it.
- Go up one level, paste the bookmarks that you just copied.
- Rename the file to “bookmarks.html”.
- Done. Now your bookmarks should be restored.

Filemail is a new service which allow users to attach 2GB files through email.
A lot of free email providers will limit the attachments size. Normally, they not allow more than 10MB attachments. Even we can use online file storing services , but it is very troublesome if a single file’s size is larger than 100MB. It is because most of the free online file storing services will limit the file size to 100MB.
Filemail is a solution for you, if you need to send large attachments through email. So, how does Filemail works? It actually store your files in their server and encrypt it through a 128but AES algorithm. Your recipients will then receive an email with the download details. They can then download your attachments through the given link.

You can use your existing email address while sending the mail. Registration is not required. The advance options let you decide the download limit and the number of days until the files being removed.
Note: The sender and recipient can be blank, which means you can get the download link and send it to your friends manually.

WaveMyPic is a free service which can apply lake effect to your picture.
There are a lot of online tools which can edit/modify/add special effects to your pictures. WaveMyPic is one of the example which can add lake effect. Simply upload any pictures and wait for the output to come out.
After you add lake effect to your picture, you will be given a link which point to the output. You can then embedded the output to your social media account using the provided link. Below is an example output from WaveMyPic:

The generated output image’s size is quite large. So i would recommend you to use the direct link to the output picture from WaveMyPic, instead of store it on your hosting account. It will save you a lot of bandwidth.

SuperFast Shutdown is a free utility which can shutdown your Windows faster than you could possible imagine. It will shutdown the Windows immediately when you click the shortcut button.
How long you need to wait for the regular shutdown/restart precess? I guess a normal PC which install a lot of applications will take at least 2 minutes right? With SuperFast Shutdown, you can reduce the times needed. After you install the application, you will get two extra icons – Super Fast Reboot and Super Fast Shutdown.

My advises are to manually close all opened windows and save all open files before perform “superfast” reboot/shutdown. Else you may lost your data. It is because this application won’t prompt any warning message and will immediately shutdown when you press the shortcut icon.

Secure Login is a Firefox extension which similar to Opera’s Wand login. It use the built-in password manager and provide extra security features for users.
After install Secure Login, you are able to use the status bar icon or shortcut key ( alt + N) to perform automatic login. Before you click the Secure Login icon or press the shortcut key, Firefox won’t automatically fill the username. This will help to protect you from malicious Javascript code from stealing your login information.
If you have multiple accounts on the same URL, Secure Login will let you choose which account you want to use. You also have the option to play a sound when login data found on the current page. The screenshot below shows Firefox highlighted the username and password fields when Secure Login found login information:

When you see the highlighted fields, you can click the Secure Login icon at Firefox status bar to automatic login. To provide more security such as preventing cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks, you can turn on “Activate JavaScript protection on login”.
If you use Firefox password manager very often and would like to protect your login information, i would recommend you in install this plugin.
