Unlocker – Unlock any files/folders before you delete them

Unlocker is an application which can unlock any files or folders from the system. This is very useful when you want to delete some files but windows lock them.

Had you seen this warning message when you try to delete some file/folder?

This is probably cause by other application is using the file or folder. Sometimes, even we turn off all applications that related with the file/folder, the message box still popup. This is probably cause by some hidden application that use it, or probably it is a virus/spyware?

By using Unlocker, you can unlock the file/folder so that you can delete it. If you run Unlocker Assistant, a popup window will automatically appear when you trying to delete locked files.

Vista Drive Icon – Turn XP drive icon into Vista style!

Vista Drive Icon is an application which can changes the drive icon shown in My Computer, to a nearly Vista style drive icon, which can show the free space of a particular drive, with a smooth colored horizontal bar.

By default, Windows XP will not show the free space of your drive, unless you change the view to Details. But, Windows Vista did show us the free space. Now, Windows XP user also can get this feature by using this application.

The screenshots above show us the drive icon of my C: drive before and after the installation. The tiny horizontal bar show us the particular drive’s free space. When your drive is running on low disk space, the bar’s color will turn red as shown on the screenshot below:

Another insteresting feature is that a small Windows icon will appear on the drive that contains your windows system.

This application can be installed on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP. I am not sure that will it compatible with Windows Vista or not, but i believe no one will install on Vista, right? The memory usage is quite low and i try to install it on my old PC, it seems like running smoothly.

IM History offer a web-synchronized way to save your chat history and access it from other computers, even between Windows and Linux machines!

IM History If you use multiple IM program or using sam IM account on different computers, you may need IM History. It is a free beta application which can synchronize your chat history through web so that you can view your chat history in different computers.

After you install the client application, you need to setup your IM account. Currently, they support AIM, Yahoo!, Skype, Trillian, ICQ, Skype, and Pidgin. You can access your chat history using their client or through their website.

Pingie – Get RSS delivered as SMS to your phone

Pingie is a service which is kind of RSS to SMS notification utility. It will send an SMS to you whenever a new post appear in your “watch” feed.

Google Reader, Feedreader, RSS Reader, and Newsgator are examples of great Reader, but if you want the RSS content deliver to your mobile, you need Pingie.

How to bypass blocked website from your school/office

Our office or school normally will filter the content that deliver to or from us. It is to avoid us to access illegal websites or download illegal contents. Sometimes, even our Internet Service Provider install the filter to avoid access to certain website. So, i believe everyone will try some ways to bypass them, am i right?

Some people trying to use Proxy Server or VPN to bypass the filter. But, most of the free Proxy Servers are overloaded and it slow down the speed while VPN required monthly subscription. So, is there any other way to bypass the filter? Yes, it does. Thanks to BlogIsEverything, which provide an introduction about convert your URL to HEX code.

There are a few services which can provide conversion from text to hex:

  2. Centricle

An example for the conversion:

Paste the Hex code in your browser and you will then being point to www.techsnack.net.

Note: I try to paste them in Firefox, but it returns the search result from Google. But it works fine for IE. I still haven’t try with other browsers, anyone willing to help me try on them?

MailBigFileMailBigFile allow maximum file size of 100MB and only 1 file per upload, which means that you can only send 1 file with maximum 100MB to your friend. Else, you have to signup for their paid account. They have 3 type of paid account: Pro (with SSL transfer), Business, and Entreprise.

Reg To Bat is a small application which can convert Windows Registry files (.reg) into MSDOS batch files (.bat).

How to “hide” your HDD partition from others

If you are sharing PC with your family and you would like to “hide” some informations from them, this trick would work for you, without any software installed.

Sometimes, we save some data in our computer, but we don’t want others to view them. We may try come encryption software, but it is very difficult to configure and sometimes we may lost the password also! So, i would like to share a trick with my readers, it actually hide these partitions from My Computer, and DOS.

Flickr Downloader – Find and download Flickr image quickly

Flickr Downloader is an application which can search Flickr’s images and then save to your PC. You can also add tags to these images.

I had cover Save2pc before, which let you download Youtube videos. Now i would like to introduce another application for you to search and download images from the largest photo sharing service, Flickr.
